THOMSON REUTERS COMMUNITY IOS & ANDROID APP

The Thomson Reuters Community App was designed for the Tax and Accounting, Aumentum, Legal, and Islamic Finance Communities that use Thomson Reuters products and services. It’s a members only app that connects professionals looking for more sight on products, services and expert advice.

UX Challenges

Many of the Thomson Reuters products and services are used by subject matter experts in their fields, such as a tax accountant with 30 years experience or an attorney specializing in anti-trust. We wanted to created a social platform app where everyone could come together to help answer questions or post new ones while engaging in fun, easy and safe manner.

UX Solutions

First we wanted each member to have a profile. This was essential in order for others to connect. We know people don’t like to fill out forms, so we made it simple with the ability to upload their LinkedIn profile and edit anytime. For each person’s profile, you can see who they follow, who follows them and their public posts.  You can ask them a question, send a post or a private message. 


We decided the landing page of the app would be an aggregated list of who and what you are following. You can filter the view by all posts, questions, events, and polls.  


We wanted to connect person to person(s) but also person to subject(s). For example, if you were interested in Health Care Reform, you could see who else was following that subject and connect with them.  Each person can follow both a person and/or a subject. A subject is similar to a person profile. It tells you what this subject is about, who follows it and the owners. 


We added the ability for members to create polls and add events. This was a fun way to get people engaged and to track trends and opinions.
